Ershad pledges to remove unilateralism from JP
Monday, 28 April 2014
Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad has told his party men that there will be no unilateralism in his party from now on, as he wants to make it stronger. “The party activities will now be conducted in cooperation with all, not by an individual’s decision. JP is now very organised as it has overcome many hurdles since 1990,” the former military ruler said while addressing a joint meeting of the party at a convention centre at Gulshan in the city. Mentioning that there are 74 cases against him, Ershad, also a special envoy to the Prime Minister, said, “I was never allowed to do politics being free from the chain.” Claiming that there is no division in his party, Ershad urged the party leaders and activists to work together for making it stronger. Newly elected party secretary general Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu said Ershad is the symbol of the country’s development. He regretted that though Ershad had carried out massive development activities in Bangladesh during his rule, no contemporary leader had to suffer in jail for a long time as he did. Bablu hoped that JP will one day form government as the country’s main party, according to UNB.
