Ershad postpones India tour
Sunday, 20 July 2014
Jatiya Party chief HM Ershad’s visit to India has been postponed because of ‘unavoidable circumstances’. There are chances that he will go after Eid-ul-Fitre, Ershad’s political and press secretary Sunil Subho Roy on Sunday said. The trip, however, was yet to be rescheduled, he informed. The former president was scheduled to travel to New Delhi to discuss bilateral issues on Sunday. Meanwhile, several media reports claimed Ershad, also special envoy to Prime Ministre Sheikh Hasina, had been admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) after falling ill around noon on Sunday. But Jatiya Party Office Secretary Abul Hasan Jewel said Ershad had been to the hospital ‘for his regular health check-up’. He said Ershad ‘went home after that’. ‘The 2-day visit has been put off because of his health condition,’ said Jatiya Party Secretary General Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu. ‘The new date will be fixed after Eid,’ Bablu added, according to bdnews24.com.
