EU condemns blogger Niloy murder

The European Union (EU) has condemned blogger Neeladri Chattopadhyay’s killing. EU Ambassador to Bangladesh Pierre Mayaudon expressed his deep shock regarding the murder of Neeladri, alias Niloy. The EU ambassador conveyed his grief for Niloy murder and condemnation of the brutal killing during a views-exchange programme in Dhaka on Saturday. Mayaudon said attacks to stop free expression have been taking places in Bangladesh for a long time. EU is concerned over the issue. Conveying his heart-felt sympathy to the bereaved family members, the diplomat said that like Niloy at least four other bloggers were killed in the past six months in Bangladesh. “EU believes that motive of killing all the bloggers is same. The alliance does not want to see this sort of murder happen again,” Mayaudon said. Demanding the government to take necessary steps the EU envoy said that the victim’s family should get proper protection.
