EU files dispute against Russia over \\\'duties on agricultural, manufactured goods\\\'

GENEVA, Nov 1 (Xinhua): The European Union (EU) requested a consultation with Russia over the tariffs the latter imposed on certain agricultural and manufactured goods, said the World Trade Organis ation (WTO) Friday.
According to the WTO, the EU claimed that Russia applies duties in excess of bound rates in several ways, particularly duty rates applied to its paper and paperboard, and palm oil; and its fractions, refrigerators and combined refrigerators-freezers.
The EU insisted the measures taken by Russia "adversely affect exports of these goods from the European Union to Russia."
This is the fifth case filed against Russia since it acceded to the WTO in August 2012.
The first two cases, related to the recycling fee on motor vehicles, were filed by both the EU and Japan in July 2013. The third was filed in April 2014 by the EU over Russia's measures on the imports of EU live pigs and their genetic materials and products.
The fourth case brought forward by the EU to the WTO in May this year, disputed Russia's anti-dumping duties on light commercial vehicles from Germany and Italy.
Request for consultations is the first step of a dispute in the WTO's dispute settlement system.
Russia has up to 10 days to respond and the members must enter into consultations within a maximum of 30 days after the request has been officially made.
