The European Union has lauded Bangladesh’s progress in willfully moving from aid to trade. ‘Bangladesh proudly stands on its own 2 feet,’ its head of delegation in Dhaka Pierre Mayaudon has said while addressing a programme in Dhaka. ‘This is thanks to the hard work,’ he said, ‘one could even say to the sacrifice, of millions of women and men.’ The EU is the largest destination of Bangladesh’s readymade garment export and also the biggest trade partner. Bangladesh’s almost exportable items enjoy duty-free market access, according to a news agency.
