The EU-FVO (Food and Veterinary Office) audit team will examine residues of food of animal origin mainly to see whether there are any chemical substances in fish exported to the 27 nations of the EU.
The team is expected to stay in the country until November 16, according to fisheries ministry officials.
The team will also inspect the process of implementation of public health and residue control measures in aquaculture products at every level to be sure that all procedures are conducted in line with the EU requirements, they said.
The team will visit quality control labs in Chattogram, Khulna, selling points of veterinary medicinal products and aquaculture medicinal products, shrimp farms and shrimp processing plants in Khulna.
It will also visit the EU-approved aquaculture processing establishment and some other research institutes.
The team members will also hold meetings with top government officials.
The last time an EU-FVO audit team visited the country was in April 2015, fisheries ministry officials said.
