EU to offer GSP Plus status to BD

Thursday, 23 October 2014

The European Union (EU) will continue the generalized system of preferences (GSP) to Bangladesh after graduation of the country to the middle-income status, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed told journalists on Thursday. The country is expected to be graduated to the middle-income group in seven years, when some of the existing trade preference would go because those are given only to the low-income group states. But, after attending an important meeting in Brussels, Tofail Ahmed said Bangladesh would be enjoying trade preference in EU countries under the GSP Plus status, according to a news agency.
