EU's IT consultant visits Bangladesh's software co office

FE Report | Monday, 11 August 2008

European Union's (EU) information technology (IT) senior consultant Thies Wittig recently visited Bangladesh Internet Press Limited (BIPL), the CMMI level 3 matured software development company in the country.

Dr Wittig carried significant importance for the software export industries of the country, as his evaluation report on Bangladesh as a prospective software-outsourcing destination for EU, could make a major difference to the country's growth expectations from software exports.

When visiting BIPL premises, Dr Wittig surprised to see such a large physical infrastructure, fully equipped, planned and organised to facilitate, support and control activities of 100+ professional software developers under the same roof, seamlessly working together according to the procedural guidelines of a benchmark Quality Management System.

While conducting a three day seminar with Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services in the city, Dr Wittig advised on formation of joint clusters among its members, for bringing in and work together on 'large scale/ big budgeted outsourced software projects.'
