EWU organises ACM regional programming contest in city

East West University (EWU), in association with IBM, ACM and Global Brand Private Ltd, organised the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Dhaka Regional-2007 at Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in the city Saturday.
The aim of the event was to set up a platform for the youths of the country and the Asian region so that they could apply their academic performances to solving industrial and IT related problems.
A total of 83 teams from 32 public and private universities of Bangladesh and China participated in the regional contest.
The sprinter team of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) secured first position in the contest while Fudan University of China grabbed the second and EWU the third positions respectively.
Former chief justice and chief adviser Mohammad Habibur Rahman attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest.
Presided over by EWU Vice-Chancellor Mohammed Sharif, President of American Chamber of Commerce Syed Ershad Ahmed and President of Board of Directors of EWU Jalaluddin Ahmed were also present on the occasion as the special guests.
