Ex-activist of PCJSS gunned down

RANGAMATI, June 15: A former member of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) was gunned down by the armed cadres of PCJSS at his house at Moddhyam Pakuzzachhari under Baghaichhari Upazila Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Suvas Chandra Chakma (37), son of Samo Dhan Chakma. Mr Suvas was a member of a faction of PCJSS which was identified as a reformist group separated from the main PCJSS during the last caretaker government's tenure.
The Baghaichhari police recovered the body and sent it to the Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital today (Tuesday) for autopsy.
According to sources, a group of armed cadres of PCJSS numbering 12 to 15 went to the house of Mr Suvas at about 2am when he was asleep. They entered into the room by breaking the door and opened fire on him killing him on the spot.
The assailants left the scene soon after confirming his death, the local people and Baghaichhari police said.
