Ex-BCL leader injured in gun attack

A former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League’s Dhaka city unit was shot and injured by some miscreants in Rampura area in the city on Friday evening. The victim, Abul Khair sustained bullet injuries in his left leg and arm and now he is receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). He was the president of BCL’s Rampura Thana unit. The incident comes hardly four months after a former central BCL president was shot and injured in a gun attack by miscreants in the city’s Dhanmondi. Enamul Haq Shamim, a member of Awami League’s central committee who is also an ex-president of the central BCL, received two bullets in his left hand in the attack which took place near Ibn Sina Hospital on June 19. Shameem was admitted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) at Dhaka Cantonment following the gun attack. In-Charge of DMCH police outpost Mojammel Haque said Abul Khair was shot by a gang of 6/7 miscreants around 7:00pm on Friday. DMCH doctors said today Abul Khair is now out of danger, according to a news agency.
