Ex-BNP MP Anwar sued

PABNA, June 21 (bdnews24.com): An extortion case was filed Wednesday against former BNP lawmaker KM Anwarul Islam and three others.
Islam was the former BNP lawmaker for Pabna-3 constituency as well as Chatmohor Upazila BNP president.
Magistrate Yusuf Abdullah accepted the case and ordered the chief of Faridpur police station to initiate legal proceedings.
The three other accused are Abdul Hakim, general secretary of Faridpur Upazila BNP, his father Ishaque Ali and another BNP activist, Idris Ali.
Ashraful Alam Mithu of Parfaridpur village in Faridpur filed the case with the District Cognisance Court.
The superintendent of police (SP), referring to the charge sheet, said the accused demanded Tk 0.30 million from Mithu on March 6, 2006.
When the plaintiff refused to pay, it is alleged, Islam vandalised his home with the other accused.
