Ex-BNP MP Hafiz Ibrahim jailed for 13 years

A special court sentenced former BNP MP Hafiz Ibrahim to 13 years in prison Thursday for amassing illegal wealth and concealing information on property, reports bdnews24.com.
Judge Shamsunnahar Begum of the Special Court-4, set on the Jatiyo Songsod complex, also jailed Hafiz Ibrahim's wife Mafruza Sultana to three years in jail for abetting her husband.
The court fined Tk 10 million each. Hafiz will have to serve one and a half years more behind bars if he fails to pay the fine.
For the same failure, Mafruza will have to serve six more months in prison.
The court also ordered confiscation of the couple's property earned through illegal means.
Hafiz Ibrahim was present in the court Thursday but Mafruza was on the run.
