Wednesday, 5 September 2007

Former BNP lawmaker AKM Fazlul Haque Milon was arrested in the capital early Tuesday, a day after his party chief and ex-prime minister Khaleda Zia was held, reports UNB.
Official sources said Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel picked up Milon, also former president of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of BNP, at about 5:30 am while he was travelling in his car through Ramna area.
The elite force from RAB unit-1 also seized the car for examining documents of the vehicle.
Additional Director General of RAB Gulzar Uddin Ahmed told the news agency that Milon was wanted in two separate cases of misappropriation of corrugated iron (CI) sheets meant for relief, filed with Kaliganj and Joydevpur police stations.
"He has been arrested under the Emergency Rules and will be handed over to Ramna police station after Magrib prayers," he said.
Milon, secretary of Gazipur district BNP and central Student affairs secretary of the party, was elected Member of Parliament from Gazipur-3 (Kaliganj) constituency in the last general election in 2001.
