Ex-BNP MP's wife, son will spend 5 years in prison

Tuesday, 6 November 2007

A special court Monday sentenced wife and son of former BNP MP Salauddin Ahmed to eight years in jail each for not paying tax and concealing information on undeclared assets, reports bdnews24.com.
The court handed down five years for hiding wealth statement and another three years for suppressing wealth information.
The convicts, however, are to serve five years in prison each as the punishment on both counts would run at the same time.
The verdict will come in force from the day they are arrested or surrender.
Both of them are evading arrest. The National Board of Revenue filed two cases against them for dodging income tax.
