Ex-BRTC boss gets 14 years jail term for taking bribes

A Dhaka court has sentenced former chairman of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) and BNP leader Taimur Alam Khondoker to 14 years in prison for taking bribes, reports bdnews24.com.

Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) deputy director Md Golam Mostafa filed four separate cases against Taimur Alam for taking bribes on August 14 last year.

The verdicts in two cases were delivered Thursday at the Special Judge's Court-9. Judge Khondoker Kamal Uzzaman sentenced Taimur to 7 years imprisonment in each case.

Taimur was also fined Tk 5.0 million or another two years behind bars on failure to pay.
