Referring to the convention's theme-Education for Excellence-Professor Patwary urged for further expansion of the Lions' activities by raising their dedicated service in the field of education. "There is no alternative to knowledge to build a civilised society as knowledge is an essential tool for comprehending realities of life," he said.
Quoting from the Holy Qur'an, the former BUET VC said Islam is the only religion which has made education mandatory for its adherents. Even the first revelation sent to Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) by Almighty Allah also indicates towards knowledge. The Holy Qur'an says, "Read in the name of thy Creator, who created."
Appreciating various service oriented activities of the Lions members, particularly in the health and education sectors, Professor Patwary said they should supplement more efforts towards promoting true education at the primary level.
