Ex-bureaucrat obtains PhD

Md Abdul Karim, a former principal secretary to the government, has received PhD degree from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), Dhaka for his research work on Sustainable Poverty Alleviation Approach for Bangladesh.
Based on the poverty reduction programme of Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation in the monga-stricken greater Rangpur region, Mr Karim carried out his research under the supervision of Dr M A Baqui Khalily, professor of Finance of the University of Dhaka.
The external examiner was Professor Sabur Mollah, Chair in Financial Management at Sheffield University Management School, UK.
Dr Md Abdul Karim is currently working as executive director of UCEP Bangladesh. He previously served as secretary to a number of ministries and divisions. He was president of Bangladesh Scouts, managing director of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) and Senior Adviser of BRAC, says a statement.
