Ex-Lt Commander Rana remanded

Former Lt Commander of Bangladesh Navy MM Rana on Sunday was placed on a seven-day remand in connection with Narayanganj 7-murder case. Earlier in the day, the former Rab-11 official was arrested from Dhaka Cantonment area for his suspected involvement with killings of seven people, including Narayanganj city councillor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyers Advocate Chandan Kumar Sarker, and was taken to Narayanganj city, a day after his two colleagues were nabbed from the same place and remanded for five days each. Police picked up Rana from Dhaka Cantonment around 1:30am on Sunday and he was produced before the Narayanganj court in the morning. He was the 3rd ex-Rab-11 man remanded after arrest for their alleged involvement with the gruesome killings. Around 4am on Saturday, police officials investigating the seven murders arrested former Lt Col Tarek Sayeed Mohammad, who was the Commanding Officer of the Narayanganj-based Rab-11, and a former army Major Arif Hossain from the same area. The same day they were presented before a Narayanganj court which sent them to police remand for five days, according to a news agency.
