Ex-mayor, parliament members among 215 sued in Khulna

KHULNA, Aug 24 (BSS): Two cases were filed against 215 Awami League men including ex-KCC mayor and ex-parliament members with Khalishpur Police Station.
Police filed the cases on Friday night on charge of vandalism, arson and looting of local BNP offices, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khalishpur Police Station Md Anwar Hossain told the news agency on Saturday.
Local Sramik Dal leader Sheikh Dabir filed a case accusing 110 named and 20 to 25 unnamed AL men for vandalism, looting and arson attack on August 27 in 2022.
Another BNP leader Kazi Md Ekram Mintu filed a case against 105 named and 25 to 30 unnamed AL men for arson attack and vandalism in BNP office on October 22 in 2023.
According two FIR, AL men including ex-mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque, ex-parliament members Begum Monnujan Sufian, S M Kamal Hossain and Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel attacked BNP offices while BNP men was observing protest programmes, said the OC.
