Ex-minister Asaduzzaman's son Safi remanded

A Dhaka court has placed former Home Affair Minister Asaduzzaman Khan's son Safi Muddaser Khan (Joty) on a four-day remand in a case over attempt to kill a man during the August 5 clash in Ashulia, reports UNB.
Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Md Saiful Islam passed the order after hearing the remand petition, said the court's Additional Public Prosecutor Anwarul Kabir Babul on Saturday.
Earlier, Abu Taher Mia, sub inspector of Ashulia thana, and also the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, produced him before the court with a prayer for seven-day remand, he said.
Rejecting the petition for bail by defendant's lawyers, the court granted the remand, the additional PP informed.
A team of Dhaka district police raided a building in capital's Uttara area early Saturday and arrested him from there in connection with a case filed with Ashulia thana.
On September 1, a Dhaka court issued a travel ban on 10 people, including Asaduzzaman Khan, his wife Lutful Tahmina Khan and son Safi.
On September 11, one Rabiul Sany, filed the case against 11 people including Sheikh Hasina, Safi and others with Ashulia police station for attempting to kill him.
