Ex-minister Milon, Bilkis assaulted at BSMMU

Former State Minister for Education Ehsanul Huq Milon and ex-BNP lawmaker Bilkis Islam, who belong to BNP's reformist group, were assaulted by JCD and Jubo Dol workers at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Wednesday, reports UNB.brWitnesses said Milon and Bilkis went separately to the BSMMU compound hearing the news that Tarique Rahman may be released anytime Wednesday.brAs Milon went to BSMMU at 130 pm, JCD and Jubo Dol workers raised slogans against him. Later, the activists surrounded him and slapped and punched him. Some threw slippers and shoes at him for his anti-Khaleda role after the political changeover on January 11 last year.brPolice rescued Milon from his tormentors and took him to safety.brWitnesses said Bilkis Islam, a former MP from women's reserved seat in Nilphamari, also came under similar assault by the women activists of BNP.brBilkis told journalists that she had been at BSMMU before Milon came. After the assault on Milon, Dhaka City Mohila Dol secretary Shirin Akhter provoked others to attack her.brPolice rescued Bilkis and got her into a car.
