Ex-minister MK Anwar, his son, brother sued in extortion case

COMILLA, Jun 15 (UNB): Eight people, including detained former Agriculture Minister MK Anwar, his son and brother, have been sued in an extortion case.

Ahmad Ali, of Munshikandi village in Homna Upazila, filed the case with the district judicial magistrate's court today (Sunday).

Other accused in the case are : MK Anwar's son Mahmud Kaiser Anwar, brother Morshed Anwar, Meghna Upazila Jubo Dal general secretary Jahirul Islam, Bashir Uddin, Arshad Molla, Jahangir Alam and Shahjahan.

Magistrate Sarwar Ahmed ordered the Homna thana officer in-charge to investigate the case.

In his complaint, plaintiff Ahmad Ali alleged that the accused captured his eight decimal of land and a shop as he refused to pay them Tk 0.5 million (Tk 5 lakh) as toll.
