Ex-minister Noman gets bail, Salahuddin chargesheeted

Former BNP Minister Abdullah Al Noman was granted bail by a court here Thursday as he faces charges of earning wealth illegally, reports UNB.brMetropolitan Sessions Judge for Dhaka M Azizul Haque granted the bail after lawyer Golam Mostafa Khan moved a bail petition on behalf of his client Noman, a former Livestock and Fisheries Minister during the latest regime of Khaleda Zia.brNoman has remained fugitive since November last year.brAfter hearing the arguments of both sides, the judge granted the bail with a bond of Tk 50,000 and under the custody of a local person and a lawyer.brAccording to the case, Noman amassed wealth without any valid source of income from October 26 to December 9, 1997.brLater, a case was filed against him with Dhanmondi police in 2000.brOn May 30, 2000 he was chargesheeted and granted bail by the High Court (HC).brMeanwhile, Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Helaluddin Sharif submitted a chargesheet against former BNP lawmaker Salahuddin Ahmed to Dhaka CMM Court Thursday in a case for embezzling of relief materials.brHe was a Member of the Parliament from Dhaka-4.
