Ex-MP Anjuman Ara laid to rest

Anjuman Ara Jamil, a former lawmaker and wife of Shaheed Brig Gen Jamil Uddin Ahmad (Bir Uttam), was laid to rest Friday, reports UNB.
Anjuman Ara, who died of old-age complications at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) at about 8:15 pm Thursday, was buried at Dhaka Cantonment Graveyard following a namaz-e-janaza at Mohakhali DOHS Mosque after Juma prayers.
He was of 74.
She left behind her four daughters-Tehmina Enayet, Afroza Jamil, Fahmida Ahmed and Karishma Jamil-and a host of relatives to mourn her death.
Anjuman Ara Jamil was elected MP from one of the reserved seats for women (Kushtia, Meherpur and Chuadanga) in 1996.
Chief of Army Staff General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan and other senior army officials attended the janaza.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited the residence of late Anjuman Ara in the city's Mohakhali area Friday morning.
The Prime Minister conveyed her sympathy to the bereaved family members and stood beside Anjuman Ara's coffin for some time.
Earlier, Thursday, Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of Anjuman Ara.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith also expressed his deep shock at the death of Anjuman Ara and conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved family members.
