A Dhaka court on Thursday placed former lawmaker of Comilla-8 constituency Nasimul Alam Chowdhury on a three-day remand each in a case lodged over the murder of one Md Shahjahan in the capital's Mohakhali area during the student-led July-August mass uprising, reports BSS.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sanaullah passed the order as police produced Nasimul, also the vice-president of Comilla district Awami League, before the court and pleaded to place him on a seven-day remand in the case.
Nasimul Alam Chowdhury was arrested from Helmet Tower in the capital's Banani area on December 30, 2024.
According to the case documents, Md Shahjahan joined a peaceful rally of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in the Mohakhali Flyover area on July 19.
Cadres of Awami League and its front organisations attacked the rally, firing indiscriminately at the innocent people.
