Ex-MP Shakhawat Hossain held in Jessore

JESSORE, July 23 (UNB): Former Jamaat lawmaker Shakhawat Hossain was arrested Monday night from his residence at Keshabpur Upazila headquarters in the district on charge of extortion.
Joint forces picked up Shakhawat Hossain around 7:45 pm on charge of extorting Tk 9.2 million (92 lakh) from some local people and taking bribed from a number of lecturers of Flight Lt Masud College in return for help in their appointment.
Sources said Shakhawat Hossain was interrogated after the arrest and he is likely to be handed over to Keshabpur police station tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.
