A Dhaka court Sunday placed Humayun Sultan Sadab, son of former MP Khan Tipu Sultan, on a three-day remand in a case filed for killing his wife, reports UNB.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Anwar Sadat passed the order rejecting an appeal of defence lawyer Syed Rezaur Rahman against the remand petition by police.
Meanwhile, the High Court on Sunday granted bail to former Awami League MP Khan Tipu Sultan and his wife Jasmine Ara for four weeks in a case filed in connection with the killing of their daughter-in-law Dr Shamarukh Mehzabin.
An HC bench, comprising Justice Syed AB Mahmudul Huq and Justice Akram Hossain Chowdhury, passed the order after a hearing on a petition seeking bail upon their surrender.
On November 14, Dhanmondi Police Station sub-inspector Kazi Shariful Islam, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, produced Humayun before the court and sought a 10-day remand against him.
The court fixed Sunday for hearing the petition.
Police arrested Humayun Sultan Sadab from the city's Dhanmondi area on charge of killing his wife on November 13.
