Monday, 9 January 2012

Police detained Imtiaz, son of former president Iajuddin Ahmed, after students gave him a chase as he arrived at Atish Dipankar University, reports bdnews24.com.
The enraged students pursued him as he allegedly beat up the university's registrar.
Police said Imtiaz has been taken into custody for the sake of his safety.
Registrar Kabir Hossain Talukder alleged that he was beaten up by Imtiaz Ahmed Babu when he went to his house earlier to talk to Anwara Begum, Imtiaz's mother and former vice-chancellor of the university.
Anwara Begum, currently a trustee board member, denied the allegation and said this was a conspiracy to oust her from the university she 'built up with her own hands'.
Registrar Talukder claimed Imtiaz beat him up and detained him for three hours. Afterwards, he and his mother took Talukder to the university where he told the students about the incident and they gave Imtiaz the chase.
