Ex-PSC member gets 8 years' RI for tax evasion

MYMENSINGH, Dec 10: A court here Monday convicted former member of Public Service Commission (PSC) Prof Mahfuzur Rahman and awarded him eight years' rigorous imprisonment (RI) in a tax evasion case. The court also fined Mahfuzur Rahman, also a professor of the Bangladesh Agriculture University, Tk 5.8 million (Tk 58 lakh), in default, to suffer RI for one year more. He was tried in absentia. — UNB
