After his two colleagues confessed to the abduction and killing of seven people in Narayanganj, former RAB-11 commander Tarek Sayeed Mohammad has also reportedly admitted to his role in the crimes. Tarek Sayeed issued a confessional statement in the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate KM Mohiuddin in Narayanganj city on Wednesday, said Sakhawat Hossain, President of Narayanganj District Lawyers’ Association. Tarek Sayeed is the son-in-law of Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya. Earlier this month, former officers of the Narayanganj-based elite force Arif Hossain and MM Rana also gave their confessional statements in the same court. Seven men, including Narayanganj city councillor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar, were abducted on April 27. Their bodies were found floating on Shitalakkha and Dhaleswari rivers several days later. Nazrul's father-in-law Shahidul Islam had claimed earlier that RAB took Tk 60 million from prime suspect Nur Hossain for the abduction and killings. Three former RAB officers -- former Lt Col Tarek Sayeed Mohammad, who was then RAB-11 commanding officer, ex-Major Arif Hossain and ex-Lt Commander MM Rana -- were removed from the elite force and later sent into forced retirement. They were held after a High Court order and are currently in prison, according to bdnews24.com.
