Ex-Rab officer held on robbery charge

Police arrested the former commanding officer of Rab-7 from the city's Moghbazar area early Thursday on charges of looting Tk 20.7 million from a shrine in Chittagong, reports UNB.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of police from Ramna and Anwara police stations raided a house at Doctor Lane in Maghbazar at about 3:30am and arrested Lieutenant Colonel (sacked) Zulfiqar Ali Majumder.
On November 4 last year, Zulfiqar along with 20 to 30 people, including some Rab men in plainclothes and their informants, allegedly looted Talsara Darbar Sharif at Anwara Upazila in Chittagong.
Mohammad Idris of Talsara Darbar Sharif filed a case with the local police station accusing 10 members of Rab-7, two of their informants and some 15 unnamed persons on March 13.
