Ex-Rab officer Rana on fresh 5-day remand

A Narayanganj court on Monday placed former Rab officer Lt Commander MM Rana on a fresh five-day remand in the sensational seven-murder case.
Senior Judicial Magistrate KM Mahiuddin passed the order when Detective Branch of Police Inspector Mamunur Rashid Mondal, also investigation officer of the case, produced him before his court on expiration of his second-phase eight-day remand.
In his forwarding, the IO told the court that evidence indicates that Rana was involved in the seven murders, and sought a seven-day remand. “Important information has already been gleaned during interrogation. He needs to be grilled again for further information.”
After hearing, the court put Lt Commander Rana, former commander of Special Crime Prevention Company of Rab-11, on five days’ remand.
Police arrested MM Rana from Dhaka Cantonment area on May 18 in connection with the much-talked-about seven murders, according to UNB.
