Monday, 7 April 2014

A Chittagong court has ordered to prison the former additional chief machinery engineer of Bangladesh Railway’s east zone in a graft case over recruitment. Chittagong Divisional Special Judge Ataur Rahman issued the order on Monday after Hafizur Rahman Chowdhury surrendered before the court. The date of hearing for the two cases was on Monday. They had been filed over irregularities in the recruitment tests in ‘fuel checker’ and ‘chemist’ posts in the eastern zone. Chowdhury has been named accused in the charge-sheet. In February, the court sent candidates Abul Kashem and Anisur Rahman to jail. On Mar 3, former general manager Yusuf Ali Mridha was also sent to jail after he surrendered in court. Both Mridha and Chowdhury are facing 13 graft cases filed over alleged bribes for recruitment, according to bdnews24.com.
