Former president of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Barrister Amir-ul-Islam Saturday said a vested quarter carried out the bomb attack at the residence of the Chief Justice (CJ) to push the country towards anarchy.
"The bomb attack is undoubtedly an attempt to hinder the country's rule of law by making the highest court controversial," the senior lawyer said at a press conference in the SCBA's south hall, reports BSS.
The Association organised the press conference to condemn the bomb attack.
Senior lawyer Yusuf Hossain Humayun, Subrata Chowdhury, SCBA vice-president Fazlul Haque Khan Farid and Assistant Secretary Moshfaqur Rahman were present on the occasion.
"Those who do not believe in the rule of law made the bomb attack on the CJ's house to destabilise the country's development process", Mr Islam said adding that a deliberate process was underway to stigmatise the highest level of justice by using the Supreme Court Bar.
The former SCBA president said lawyers might have political platform but they must refrain from using SCBA politically.
The lawyers' leaders alleged that the opposition party made the bomb attack on the CJ's residence finding no other issue to launch anti-government movement to protect Khaleda Zia's Cantonment residence and war criminals.
They described the August 21 grenade attack, seizure of 10 truck arms, bomb attack on Ramna Batamul and bomb attack on CJ's house as part of planned conspiracies and said those incidents were threat to the country's rule of law.
They also called upon all including lawyers to remain alert against any ill attempt to hinder the rule of law in the country.
