Ex-secretary Golam Mostakim dies

Former secretary and writer Golam Mostakim died in Dhaka’s Holy Family Hospital on Saturday morning, his elder son Golam Mujtoba Dhrubo said. Mostakim was 61. He had been suffering from diabetes for a long time. Mostakim retired in 2011. He worked to help create worldwide opinion during Bangladesh’s War of Independence in 1971. His two brothers Golam Kibria Tajo and Golam Dastagir Tito were killed during the liberation war and are fondly remembered as martyrs for the cause. Mostakim graduated in English from Dhaka University and excelled in four languages including German and French. Mostakim was also the director general of Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Academy. He served as additional secretary of the Ministry of Commerce. He left wife and two sons to mourn his death, according to bdnews24.com.
