Ex-secy Ismail Zabiullah jailed for 13 yrs

A special court Thursday sentenced ex-secretary Ismail Zabiullah to 13 years' rigorous imprisonment for amassing wealth illegally and hiding information about his assets.
His wife Ayesha Zabiullah was also awarded three years' simple imprisonment for aiding her husband in protecting the ill-gotten property, reports UNB.
Trying the couple in absentia, the court of judge M Sirajul Islam also fined Zabiullah Tk one million and his wife TK 0.1 million. In case of failure to pay the fines, they will have to suffer more one year and six months respectively behind bars.
Besides, the court ordered confiscation of their illegal wealth worth Tk 12.9 million.
