Ex-state minister Shamsul arrested, sent to jail

Former state minister for planning Shamsul Alam has been arrested and sent to jail, report agencies
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch (DB) arrested him in the capital's Mohammadpur area in the early hours of Thursday morning, the DMP said in a statement.
He is named in several cases filed over the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, but police have yet to confirm in which case he was arrested.
Later, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Haque passed the order as police produced him before the court and pleaded to keep him behind bars until the end of probe in a case lodged over the murder of Juba Dal leader Shamim.
Shamsul joined the cabinet as a technocrat in July, 2021.
