Ex-UP member killed in Haluaghat

A former union parishad (UP) member was killed in an attack by his rivals at Sakurai under Haluaghat Upazila in Mymensingh on Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Saifuzzaman Khoka, 60. Locals said there was a longstanding enmity between the UP member and Samsuddin of Sakurai area over capturing of a deep tubewell used for irrigation. Samsuddin and his associates swooped on Saifuzzaman and his associates while they went to take control over the tubewell in the morning. Hit by sharp weapons by his rivals, the ex-UP member died on the spot, according to UNB.
