Ex-UP member stabbed to death, seven held

JAMALPUR, July 23 (UNB): Miscreants stabbed a former union parishad (UP) member to death in Madarganj upazila of Jamalpur on Saturday night.
Police detained seven people over the incident.
The dead, Jahurul Islam (50), was a resident of Phuljhor village and was a former member under ward 7 of Jhorkhali union parishad.
Police said miscreants attacked Jahurul with sharp weapons while he was on his way home from a local market on his motorbike around 11:00 pm, leaving him critically injured.
He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Being informed by locals, a police team led by Madarganj Circle's ASP Swajal Kumar Sarkar rushed to the spot and took the body to the police station.
