Execute verdict on Bangabandhu murder case soon: Speakers

RAJSHAHI, Aug 27 (BSS): Speakers at a meeting in the city Wednesday called for immediate execution of the verdict on Bangabandhu Murder Case to rid the nation from the stigma of August 15, 1975.
They said the nation went far backward because of the tragic assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Therefore, there is no alternative to executing the verdict as soon as possible so none dare committing such heinous crimes in future, they added.
The speakers were addressing the meeting organised by BADC National Sramik League at the BADC Bhaban marking the 34th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu.
Rajshahi City Mayor (RCC) AHM Khairuzzaman Liton was the chief guest, while the district unit president of BADC Sramik League Rabiul Islam was in the chair.
Chairman of Barind Multipurpose Development Authority Nurul Islam Thandu, BADC Joint Director Abdus Sattar, city unit Secretary of Awami League Shafiqur Rahman Badsha, Vice-president Rafiq Uddin, city unit president of Sramik League Wadud Khan and BADC Sramik League Secretary Abdul Hamid, among others, spoke on the occasion.
The speakers underlined the need for collective efforts to establish an equity-based society in the country led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The present government has been working relentlessly to make the country a middle-income nation and urged all to supplement the government's endeavours through exten-ding wholehearted cooperation, they said.
