RAJSHAHI, Aug 29 (BSS): Speakers Friday unequivocally called for an immediate execution of the verdict in the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman murder case for freeing the nation from the stigma in history.
"The nation had gone far backward with the killing of the father of the nation, so there is no alternative to execution of the verdict as soon as possible so that none could dare to commit such kinds of heinous crime in future."
They said this while addressing the mourning meeting and Iftar Mahfil organised by Swadhinata Diploma Chikitsak Parishad (SDCP) at Safawang Community Centre on the occasion of the 34th death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton addressed the meeting as the chief guest while the SDCP central committee Joint Convener Khandaker Halimuzzaman Sona was in the chair.
City unit secretary of Awami League Shafiqur Rahman Badsha and SDCP leaders Mainul Ahsan and Abul Hasnat, among others, were also present on the occasion.
They said the present government had been working relentlessly to make Bangladesh a middle income country based on its election pledges and urged all quarters to supplement the government endeavour through extending wholehearted co-operation to the effort.
