Exemplary punishment to killer of JU student demanded

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, May 22 (BSS): The teachers, students and officials of Jahangirnagar University (JU) demanded Thursday exemplary punishment to the pick- up van driver who killed Fatima.
They made the demand at a human chain held at the university's main gate at 11:00 am.
They also urged the government to ensure safe road for all citizens and pay compensation to the victim's family.
JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam, Pro-VC Prof Abul Hossain, Treasurer Prof Abul Khaer, dean of the faculties, provosts, students from different departments and officials were present at the human chain.
Fatima, a student of Anthropology Department, was killed Wednesday when a pick- up van knocked her down while she was standing in front of the university's main entrance at about 5.30 pm.
