Exit policy to make banks more efficient stressed

Experts in a workshop Saturday have underscored the need for an exit policy to make the commercial banks of the country more efficient.
Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) and Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) arranged the workshop on 'basic banking, terns and terminology' Saturday in the city.
A total of 30 members of ERF attended the workshop conducted by the resource persons of BIBM.
"There is entry policy for banks, but no exit policy. Regulators have to take all responsibilities of sustainability of the banks after starting operation," said BIBM professor Dr. Toufiq A Chowdhury. He presented a paper on ALM and risk management in bank.
BIBM resource persons Md Mohiuddin Siddique, Dr. SM Ahsan Habib, Abdul Jalil Choudhury also gave presentation on financial system, its structure and disclosure, international trade finance and foreign exchange, deposit, credit issues and innovative financial services.
BIBM director general Dr. Bandana Saha inaugurated the session and delivered vote of thanks.
