Expansion of environmental courts demanded

Speakers at a discussion in Dhaka on Wednesday demanded the expansion of environmental courts at district level to facilitate people to avail themselves of its benefit in protecting the environment from pollution across the country. There are currently three environmental courts at three divisional cities --Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet. They also observed that the existing Environmental Act and its courts have not played any remarkable role in protecting the environment from pollution for lack of adequate workers, infrastructure and proper initiatives, according to a news agency.
