Expansion of Saidpur industrial estate demanded

NILPHAMARI, Oct 04: Expansion scheme of BSCIC's Saidpur industrial estate remains hanging for more than two years. Sources said requirement of expansion of BSCIC's Saidpur industrial estate was placed with the higher authorities and it has under consideration of the planning commission.
Earlier BSCIC's planning division surveyed the industrial estate and placed requisite expansion plan to the ministry of industry. On April 30, 2005. Nilphamari district administration also forwarded a proposal to the concern planning division for its expansion. Situated in the northeastern end of Saidpur town the industrial estate was built on 10.93 acres of land.
There are 90 industrial plots in the estate and all these plots has been allotted to 47 industries. Notable industries are food and food related industries 22 units, chemical industries 4 units, engineering 15 units, and jute and jute related industries one unit.
Sources said total investment in the estate till now is 42 crore 32 lakh taka and 710 persons are permanently employed there and there are many part time employees also. Considering the fact that Nilphamari is a less advance area local people demanded quick implementation of the expansion plan which will create many job opportunities.
