BARISAL, Oct 6 (UNB): Expansion work of Teletalk network in the country's southern region is being hampered as the authority failed to connect electricity line to its towers due to power shortage.
Local Teletalk officials said its towers erected beside the Barisal-Faridpur-Dhaka highway could not be connected to the power line yet much to the frustration of the customers.
Sources said Power Development Board (PDB) and Palli Bidyut Samiti have imposed restriction on giving power supply to the towers of the mobile telephone companies due to the power shortage.
The Teletalk has erected 67 towers to expand its network connection for more than 0.1 million customers of southern region.
Works of erecting 18 more towers for expanding the networks to Khulna and Barguna coastal belts will be completed soon, the sources said.
