Police on Wednesday night arrested an expatriate, who returned from South Korea recently, for stabbing his wife in the city. Shahriar Hossain Mithu, 30, was picked up from the rented residence of his wife Sadiya Rahman Dipa in North Shahjahanpur around 10:00pm. Quoting family members of Dipa, 19, police said Mithu returned from South Korea on Wednesday and went to Dipa’s Norh Shahjahanpur residence. He picked up a quarrel with Dipa over her alleged extramarital affair with another person around 9:00pm. At one stage, Mithu stabbed Dipa with a sharp weapon, leaving her injured. Hearing her scream, Dipa’s mother, who was staying at her daughter's flat, rescued Dipa and rushed her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Being informed, police rushed in and arrested Mithu, according to a news agency.
