Tuesday, 25 December 2007
NEW YORK, Dec 24 (BSS): Co-chairman of Bangladesh Caucus in the US Congress Joseph Crowley said he would try to introduce a bill in the congress to ensure the welfare of expatriate Bangladeshis living in the USA without proper document.
Crowley gave the assurance while talking to a delegation of Bangladeshi expatriates at the Hall of Science at Queens here at an annual Christmas party organised by him recently.
The delegation includes President of Prabashi Nagorik Committee Mahadev Sarker and Professor Mabel Gomez, among others.
The leaders of the delegation thanked the congressman for the recent passing of a bill in the US Congress for helping Bangladesh.
"I feel happy when any bill passes in the US Congress in the interest of Bangladesh," Crowley said.
He said Speaker Nancy Pelosi had sincerely been working for passing the bill unanimously in the Congress.
Expressing his sympathy for the 'Sidr' survivors, Crowley expressed the hope that the situation would be normal in the affected areas with help of the USA and international community.
The congressman said he would visit the Sidr affected areas whenever he comes to Bangladesh next time.
