Expatriate beaten dead in Gazipur

An expatriate was beaten to death allegedly by his uncle at Rathura Belun village in Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur district on Saturday. The victim was identified as Zillur Rahman, 35, a resident of the village. Local and relatives of the victim alleged that one Najuk Mia wanted to grab a piece of land owned by Zillur, who had come to his village home two weeks ago from Saudi Arabia, came under attack by Najuk Mia and his accomplices on Saturday over the land around 11:00am. At one stage, Najuk Mia hit Zillur in the head with a stick and continued to beat him mercilessly even after he fainted fell on the ground. Critically injured died a little while later. Being informed, police eushed to the spot and recovered the body of Zillur, according to a news agency.
